Accommodative Intraocular Lenses (IOL)

Accommodative Intraocular lenses (IOL) are unique because they treat both cataracts, a clouding of the eye's normally clear lens that usually develops with age, and the need for reading glasses, called "Presbyopia," which is also most commonly associated with aging. In this safe and effective procedure, the eye's cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear technologically advanced "accommodating" intraocular lens implant (IOL). Unlike conventional intraocular lenses which are designed primarily to correct distance vision, the accommodative intraocular lens provides both distance and near vision.

By treating both cataracts and presbyopia, you can enjoy clear distance and near vision while greatly reducing your dependency on eyeglasses. In clinical tests:

98.4% of patients implanted with an accommodative IOL in both eyes could pass a driver's test requiring 20/40 vision without glasses.
100% could see intermediate distance (24" to 30") without eyeglasses, the distance for most of life's daily activities.
98.4% could see well enough to read the newspaper and the phone book without reading glasses.
