Position Summary

The Surgical Technician works in our outpatient surgery center assisting surgeons, registered nurses and other members of the operating team in the successful performance of advanced eye surgery procedures. Duties include preparing case instruments and supplies, preparing and maintaining the sterile surgical field, passing and receiving instruments during each case, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, running autoclave sterilization processes, and ordering and maintaining supplies.

The successful Surgical Technician will contribute a positive, competent, alert, focused and team-minded demeanor in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time position. Benefits include competitive pay, preferred weekday hours (no evenings or weekends), holiday pay, group health insurance eligibility, 401k plan eligibility and supplemental options for dental, life and disability plans.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in surgical technology, completion of a vocational certificate program in surgical technology or demonstration of two or more years of work experience as a surgical assistant or technician.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in surgical technology from an accredited program of training.
  • Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of one to two years previous experience as a surgical technician.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse performs primary duties in our Nationally-accredited outpatient surgery center dedicated exclusively to advanced eye surgical procedures. Primary duties of the Registered Nurse include admitting/discharging patients, circulating and monitoring in the operating room, and attending to the overall care needs of patients. Administrative duties include maintenance of proper chart documents, participating in quality, safety and infection control initiatives, ordering supplies, operating and maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and appropriate health care environment for patients, visitors and staff. Occasional secondary duties may include assisting doctors in the adjacent eye care clinic with patient care as needed or required. Position will include occasional travel to work in our additional outpatient surgery center located within 45 minutes of primary assignment.

The successful Registered Nurse will demonstrate superior nursing skills and knowledge along with a positive, energetic, focused and team-minded demeanor to deliver exceptional care to patients in a fast-paced outpatient surgical setting.

Minimum:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Position Summary

The Medical Office Representative is a member of the front office team responsible for greeting and assisting patients during the arrival/check-in and departure/check-out processes for appointments. Duties include opening and closing the medical office, greeting patients at check-in and ensuring proper registration and paperwork completion, monitoring provider schedules, scheduling appointments, answering phones, checking-out patients at conclusion of an appointment, entering professional fees and collection/posting of patient payment, and end-of-day reconciliation of appointments and financial records.

The successful Medical Office Representative will have an outgoing, courteous, competent and professional demeanor along with the ability to accomplish assigned duties in a fast-paced medical setting. Good verbal and written communication with an enthusiastic commitment to customer and patient care service are essential to success in this position.

Position Summary

The Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician work directly with the doctor (ophthalmologist or optometrist) to successfully deliver complete eye examinations and/or advanced ocular procedures to patients. Duties include obtaining past medical history information, performing vision assessment including visual acuity, eye function and refraction (prescription determination) testing, understanding and explaining medication and/or procedure information, preparing patient information and paperwork for planned procedures, performing advanced diagnostic tests using state-of-the-art equipment, assisting in minor surgical procedures, ensuring complete and proper entry of health record documentation into an advanced electronic record system, and responsibility for proper cleaning and maintenance of examination rooms and ophthalmic equipment.

The successful Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician will demonstrate a positive, focused and team-minded demeanor interacting with patients, visitors, and all personnel in a courteous, competent and professional manner.
